Frank Urso

Frank Urso, Player Development Coordinator

Garnet Valley High School Men's Lacrosse Head Coach

Brotherly Love 2022 Ares Head Coach

During his time at Maryland, Urso led the Terrapins to the 1973 and 1975 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championships and to a perfect 10–0 record in 1973.  Urso ranks fourth all-time in Maryland men's lacrosse scoring with 208 career points and first all-time in NCAA Division I tournament scoring with 32 goals. Frank earned first-team All-American honors all four years while in college, one of only four players in NCAA history to achieve that feat.

Urso was named the USILA player of the year in 1975 as well as winning the McLaughlin Award as the nation's top midfielder in 1974 and 1976. He entered the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1981 and is considered one of the best college midfielders of all time.

Frank is currently is the head coach of Garnet Valley High School and helps Brotherly Love Lacrosse Club in the off season. His son Cory plays for the 2022 Team.

Joe Kivlen

Brotherly Love 2023 Zeus Head Coach

Coach Joe Kivlen enters his second year as the Head Coach of Brotherly Love’s 2023 Zeus.  Joe has spent the past six seasons working alongside Frank Urso as the lead Defensive Coach for Garnet Valley High School’s notable lacrosse team(s).  Coach Kivlen has been instrumental in mentoring multiple student athletes, many of whom ultimately enter into elite collegiate lacrosse programs.

A native of Long Island, Joe was the Head Coach for Council Rock North for four years, bringing them to their first two appearances in the district playoffs.  Coach Kivlen is also an 8th grade teacher at the award winning Garnet Valley Middle School.

Paul Deniken, Offensive Specialist

Brotherly Love 2024 Hercules Head Coach

Coach Paul Deniken works with Brotherly Love players on improving their offensive skills.

After graduating as an All-American from Washington College, Deniken had an outstanding career with the Philadelphia Wings from 1990 to 1998.  As a Wing, he was a member of four World Championship teams.  Deniken is currently the fifth all-time leading goal scorer for Philadelphia.  In 2002, Deniken returned to the Wings as an Assistant Coach.

Mike Noone, Defensive Specialist

Major League Lacrosse (MLL) - Ohio Machine

Coach Mike Noone played at Lehigh University from 2010-13.  Earning First Team All-Patriot League and honorable mention All-American honors.  Led the team with 26 forced turnovers and tallied 33 ground balls his senior season.  Named Second Team All-Patriot League his junior season.  Ended his career with 104 ground balls and 71 forced turnovers.  Was a USILA North-South All-Star Game selection.

Blue Ox Lacrosse serves as a training specific program to teach players of all ages the proper fundamentals necessary to excel in the sport of lacrosse.  Third party clinics are offered regularly to any organization that is searching for proper coaching in every aspect of the sport.

Blue Ox Lacrosse is dedicated to providing the highest quality instruction in the sport of lacrosse.  Our goal is to highlight the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area as the premier location for lacrosse as a sport.

Our curriculum is derived from years of experience from our elite coaching staff.  Blue Ox Lacrosse training focuses on training young men and women to reach their absolute highest potential as an athlete both physically and mentally.  Players will reach their potential by participating in our high repetition training.

Faceoff Academy

Faceoff training provided by coach Mike Gurenlian of The Faceoff Academy

The Faceoff Academy Combines focus on teaching the basics of faceoff position in great detail and providing elite knowledge and skill sets for our players.  This will be followed by live reps as well as a knockout style tournament play at the stripe.  The Combine training will also be the guideline for who will be invited to the National Recruiting Showcase.
